Metaltech raised a total of £176.00 for breast cancer awareness. Staff supported the event by making and selling cakes and contributing general donations.

The 'Advanced Precision Engineering Consortium' (APEC) is one of a number of supplier consortiums that have been created, with assistance from the Somerset Chamber's Hinkley Supply Chain Team, to make the most of the opportunities around Hinkley Point C and other large infrastructure projects.

However, whereas the majority of these collaborations have been formed in response to a potential work package request, APEC differs in that it has been driven by a group of proactive companies prior to a specific requirement being identified.

Metaltech have taken delivery of a Doosan DNM 350/5 AX
This high-speed, high-precision 5-axis machining center enables ultra-high-precision simultaneous 5-axis control for aviation and medical parts and 4+1-axis control for the economically feasible multi-facet/complex shape machining, depending on customer needs.

 


 

September 2015 - Passed as 'Fit For Nuclear'

Metaltech Precision has successfully completed the Fit For Nuclear programme, benchmarking its manufacturing capabilities against the standards required to supply the nuclear industry. Fit For Nuclear is provided by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC), with the support of its leading industry partners.'

Metaltech have taken delivery of a new Doosan DNM200 5 Axis machining centre.

 


 

February 2015 - Accreditation awarded

Metaltech have been awarded ISO14001 & BS OHSAS 18001 to sit alongside its ISO9001. Sales Manager Andy Riste commented 'Our 9001 certificate was due to expire so the opportunity was taken to implement the two new standards and move to CFA (centre for assessment)'

August 2014 - Order placed for new TT2500SY

Metaltech have placed an order with Mills Manufacturing for a new TT2500SY turn/mill centre. A gap was identified with machining larger complex components in one hit. The machine will fill this hole enabling us to be more competitive in this area. The machine is due to be installed and commissioned October 2014.

 


 

July 2014 - Metaltech order Biomass heating system

Metaltech have placed an order for a new Biomass heating system at cost of around 250K. This will give us a more efficient heating system with cheaper fuel costs than oil and lower our carbon footprint.

Metaltech will be holding an open day on Wednesday 18th June in conjunction with Yeovil College. This will allow those seeking an apprenticeship to view the factory, understand the work involved, meet the current workforce and ask questions about the apprentice program. Yeovil College will also be present to answer any questions with reference to the college part of the apprenticeship. Oct 2012 - Engineering firm invests in its future with apprentices

A CAMPAIGN backed by the Western Gazette to create new apprenticeships in Somerset has generated more than four hundred pledges from employers.

The Grow Somerset Talent campaign, jointly run by seven colleges and learning institutions, has secured four times its original target of one hundred pledges to create apprenticeships.

As the 100-day campaign continues, Chard-based engineering company Metaltech Precision Ltd has this week outlined the importance of apprenticeships to young learners and employers.

With the new main factory roof and air conditioning complete, Metaltech's continuous improvement programme takes a big step towards completion. Re-location of machinery, painted floors and the implementation of a 6's programme is already showing increased efficiency and output.

The award of new contracts has prompted Metaltech to take the decision to purchase a new Citizen A32 Sliding head machine. This machine has the ability to cater for all 27 parts in the package of work. The high rigidity and 45m/mm rapid feed rate will help us reduce existing cycle times increasing productivity.

July 2011 - Installation of NEW Daewoo Mynx 7500

Metaltech have taken delivery of a new Daewoo Mynx 7500. The machine which has been supplied by Mills Manufacturing is a welcome addition to Metaltech's already well equippped milling section. The machine boasts a 1600 x 750mm bed, 12,000 spindle speed & 30 tools.

Metaltech have taken delivery of a new Tesa Scan 52. The machine will ensure efficient and accurate measuring of spindles for the automotive industry.


TESA-SCAN 52 Reflex-Click is the new machine for round part measurement developed by TESA.

Metaltech have just posted a healthy 47% increase in sales for the month of March. Sales manager Andy Riste 'This has been our best month for nearly 2 years and marks a reward for all the hard work put in by the whole team here at Metaltech. Metaltech have taken delivery of a Mazak VTC-800/30 SR 5-axis machining centre. This investment is a much needed addition to our CNC milling capabilities.The machine will cut our manufacturing lead times through reducing the number of operations required, particularly on some of the casting work that we undertake. It should also allow us to be more competitive and remain at the forefront of sub-contract engineering.

 


 

April 2010 - Completion of office and machinery move

With our 47,000 sq/ft machine shop full to capacity, the decision was made to acquire a vacant adjoining building. This now gives us an additional 8,000 sq/ft which will be used to house our high-tech machine tools. Additional office space has also been utilised.

 


 

March 2010 - Installation of new Miyano BNJ-42SY 7 Axis Turning Centre

Due to an increase in customer demand Metaltech have taken the decision to introduce their first Miyano machine. Business Development Manager Andy Riste comments 'We had identified that we were lacking capacity between our sliding head lathes and larger bar-feed machines. The 42mm Miyano fits the bill perfectly!
