Cutting-edge multi-tasking CNC turning machine is a winner for customers
In the fast-paced world of a subcontract machining, it is essential to stay ahead of the curve. Companies that invest in cutting-edge technology can reap significant rewards in terms of efficiency and their ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Metaltech Precision, a leading precision machining company, has invested in a state-of-the-art Nakamura-Tome multi-tasking machine centre for small to medium-sized parts, supported by a robot feed system.
In this blog, we take a look at this efficient combination and the benefits it brings to Metaltech customers. You can also watch MTDCNC’s Lyndsey Vickers interviewing Steven Ward about this investment at our Somerset facility.
The multi-tasking WT-300 from Nakamura-Tome combines the latest technology with high-performance multi-axis CNC machining capability. Complex machining operations are performed with micron-level precision, ensuring that every component manufactured meets the strictest quality standards.
The Nakamura-Tome WT-300 has spindle bar capacity options for bar feeding of 65mm, 71mm, 80mm or 102mm, with a maximum turning diameter of 270mm. With twin spindles, upper and lower turrets and a turning length of up to 780mm, this heavy-duty machine is a versatile addition to subcontract machining company Metaltech Precision’s extensive plant list.
Automated feeding frees multi-tasking CNC-controlled machines to work around the clock with minimal supervision. The RoboJob system loads and unloads the CNC multi-tasking machine automatically, taking individual billets from a prepared stack to load the Nakamura-Tome, and then removing and re-stacking the finished components.
Metaltech Precision prides itself on its Investment in People culture, backed up by ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety accreditation. We have an ongoing commitment to training and developing our staff, which includes automating repetitive work where possible and limiting the need to work outside normal working hours.
Automation directly benefits customers of multi-tasking machining company Metaltech Precision, as the high-speed capabilities of these advanced CNC turning machines reduce cycle times, resulting in faster production and quicker turnaround times.
Automation ensures that each part is produced with the same level of precision and consistency, even at speed. This ensures that Metaltech will consistently deliver high-quality products to tight tolerances, which is crucial in industries where component performance is mission-critical.
Whilst our automated capacity is best suited to high-volume orders, it is also effective for small but complex orders, or for machining exotic materials.
Strategic investment in automated CNC machining capability with automated feeds provides the option of running outside normal hours, maximising available capacity.
As Steven Ward, Operations Manager at Metaltech explains, this machinery can work for long periods with little supervision:
“Our normal operating window from 6am to 6pm. The Nakamura and Hydrafeed system is an integrated solution which enables the automatic loading and unloading of turning machines, allowing us to either palletise billets or bar feed the machine. This means we can now operate around the clock, which reduces costs and provides faster turnaround times for our customers.”
Metaltech Precision’s reputation for high-quality, performance-critical CNC machining is reinforced by careful monitoring of the automated cell even outside normal hours. This can be achieved through:
We are proud to invest in precision engineering solutions that will benefit our customers and support our teams. As a leading precision machining company, Metaltech Precision invests in quality tools and teams that will continue to deliver world-class components for a range of demanding industry sectors.
